Wilbraham signs as two others extend Dale stay
Monday, 25th Jun 2018 21:24 by Col

It's been a busy old day at Spotland with one new signing and two Dale players extending their stay with the club.

The new signing is Aaron Wilbraham. If we thought we left it late last season, Wilbraham went one step further with an 88th minute winner that secured Bolton's place in the Championship.

The 38 year old striker joins Dale five months after we tried to sign him on loan. This new season will be his 22nd season in professional football, and whilst many will look to his age, his record has shown that he has made almost a hundred starts in the Championship over the past three seasons.

His previous clubs are: Stockport, Hull, Oldham, MK Dons, Bradford, Norwich, Crystal Palace, Bristol City and most recently Bolton Wanderers. He scored the winner against us in February 2015 whilst with Bristol City,

Back to our existing squad, we were given the news today that Joe Thompson had signed a new one year contract at the club. Thompson finished last season as the hero who kept Dale up with his winning goal against Charlton and next season will be his third season back at the club in what is his third spell back at Spotland, twelve years after making his professional debut for the club.

Not only that, it was announced today that Calvin Andrew had signed a twelve month extension to his contact. He had a year remaining on his deal but as is often the case, he has took the opportunity to extend his contract keeping him at Spotland until the Summer of 2020.
