Interview with a Pompey fan

Early season promotion candidates Portsmouth head to the Crown Oil Arena. We've tracked down one Pompey supporter to give us the lowdown on his club.

1)Who are ya and how long have you been supporting Portsmouth?
My name is Tony Gladwin and I have supported Pompey for 43 years

2)It’s not been a bad old start to the season for your lot. How have you managed to improve from last season?
This is now a Kenny Jackett squad, he has bought in players that he wants which together with players that he wanted to keep from previous managers means that we have a far more balanced squad with cover in all positions. The signing of Ronan Curtis from Derry was a masterstroke, he has weighed in with both goals and assists and Jamal Lowe on the opposite wing has also improved greatly, though to be fair he wasn't too bad before.

3) Has the new owner made any difference to your club?
The new owners are going about their business quietly and efficiently, there's a lot going on behind the scene which people don't see, when Pompey get back to the Championship they will be ready for that challenge.

4) What’s impressed you in League One so far this season?
Nothing really, Luton looked a reasonable side to be fair.

5) Will there be many of your lot making the trip North on Saturday?
I would hazard a guess at between 1000-1200, as you know the journey from Portsmouth to Rochdale is a bit of a ball ache.

6) Aside from the obvious answer of Dale, which is your favourite away trip in League One and why?
Personally I would say Bristol Rovers, Bristol is a cracking city with plenty of pubs and it's localish and our games with them usually provide a decent atmosphere.

7) You’ve seen a fair bit of Dale these past few years. What’s impressed you?
I can see that Rochdale are a well run club, they play some decent football at times, it can't be easy surviving in the shadow of the Manchester Clubs etc. and I'm sure a bit more local support wouldn't go amiss.

8) Name your Pompey favourites – game, player, kit!
FA Cup Semi Final v Spurs 2010, Lassana Diarra, and the away kit from 1994, red & black quarters and sponsored by Goodmans, it was the only replica shirt I've ever bought.

9) Obviously Pompey are the biggest big club in all the world, put the following clubs in order of size in your eyes (using whatever criteria you want):
Portsmouth, Sunderland, Charlton, Millwall, Bolton, Norwich, Bristol City, Ipswich, Blackburn, Reading.
Portsmouth, Bolton, Sunderland, Blackburn, Ipswich, Norwich, Millwall, Charlton, Bristol City, Reading.

10) Predictions for the game
Tight affair but Pompey just to edge it 2-1.
