Refwatch: Dale v Burton
Friday, 4th Jan 2019 11:36 by TVOS

Referee Scott Duncan is the man in the middle for Dale’s first home game of 2019 against Burton Albion on Saturday.

Mr Duncan is in his seventh season on the league list and is one of the Select Group 2 referees who mainly take charge of matches in the Championship.

We last saw Scott in August 2017 when he refereed Dale’s 4-0 Carabao Cup defeat at Stoke, while his most recent visit to the Crown Oil Arena was in February 2017 when we drew 3-3 in an exciting game with Charlton.

The Northumberland-based whistler first appeared at a Dale game in November 2012 when Bristol Rovers were the visitors to Spotland.

Dale won that match 2-1, but The Gas finished with nine men after Mr Duncan showed them two red cards in the second half.

Coincidentally, Scott also dismissed two visiting players at Spotland in April 2016 in the final home game of the 2015/16 season.

Swindon were our opponents on that occasion and they somehow escaped with a 2-2 draw!

The full list of Mr Duncan’s Dale games is:

Nov 12 Bristol Rovers (h), W 2-1

Feb 14 Burton (h), D 1-1

Sep 14 Crewe (a, JPT), W 3-0

Feb 16 Bradford (a), D 2-2

Apr 16 Swindon (h), D 2-2

Nov 16 Hartlepool (a, CT), W 2-1

Feb 17 Charlton (h), D 3-3

Aug 17 Stoke (a, CC), L 0-4

So far this season, Scott has refereed 20 matches, showing 68 yellow cards and seven red, which includes two Rotherham players in their defeat at Bristol City last Saturday.
