Refwatch: Portsmouth v Dale
Friday, 12th Apr 2019 10:28 by TVOS

Lee Swabey will referee Dale for the second time in six weeks and for the third time this season when we make the long trip to Portsmouth on Saturday.

The Plymouth-based whistler was the man-in-the-middle for Dale’s 2-0 defeat at Luton at the start of March, as well as our 3-2 loss at Shrewsbury in November.

Mr Swabey, who is in his fourth season on the National List, also oversaw another Dale defeat in January 2018 when he refereed the 2-1 reverse at Gillingham.

Lee’s first league appointment in August 2015 was Mansfield v Carlisle and since then he has refereed entirely in the two basement divisions, as well as at a number of games in all three knockout competitions.

Given his Devon home, most of Lee’s appointments have been in the south and south-west, although this season he has travelled as far ‘north’ as Port Vale, Crewe and Burton.

All told this term, Mr Swabey has been in the middle for 26 games in which he has shown 95 yellow cards and seven red, one of them to Dale’s Ethan Hamilton at Luton.

His most recent match was Colchester v Oldham last Saturday.
