Refwatch: Shrewsbury v Dale
Friday, 16th Aug 2019 08:21 by TVOS

Ben Toner will referee Shrewsbury v Rochdale for the second time when we travel to Shropshire on Saturday.

The Darwen official was in charge at the Montgomery Waters Meadow in March 2016 when a poor midweek performance saw Dale go down to a 2-0 defeat.

This is one of many Dale appointments for the Fleetwood High School science teacher since he joined the National List in 2015.

Last season we saw him three times, including the final home match of the campaign when Dale defeated Southend 1-0 to confirm their League One status.

Mr Toner was also the man in the middle for the 2-0 win at Bradford last October and Dale’s 2-1 Carabao Cup loss at Middlesbrough a couple of months earlier.

His most dramatic Dale appointment came in September 2017 when two injury time goals helped us to a thrilling 2-1 home win over Doncaster.

All told, Ben has refereed eight previous Dale games:

Mar 2016 v Shrewsbury (a), L 0-2
Dec 2016 v Scunthorpe (h), W 3-2
Sep 2017 v Doncaster (h), W 2-1
Jan 2018 v Lincoln (h, CT), L 0-1
Feb 2018 v Wigan (a), L 0-1
Aug 2018 v Middlesbrough (a, CC), L 1-2
Oct 2018 v Bradford (a), W 2-0
Apr 2019 v Southend (h), W 1-0

Toner started this season with Grimsby v Bradford last Saturday, while on Tuesday he was at Barnsley v Carlisle in the Carabao Cup.

Thanks for this article! One day I would like to become a football player, but at the moment I study at college and think about being rich and famous without any efforts. When I was preparing my assignment, I have even read here <a href=" " target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" title="Do you trust this link?">https://gradesfixer.com/free-essay-examples/american-dream/"> that I feel this American Dream syndrome. Maybe I should leave study and start playing football?
