Marc Edwards will make the trip down from County Durham to referee Dale’s League One fixture against Coventry in Birmingham on Saturday!

Currently in his first season on the National List, Marc has overseen League One games at Peterborough and Fleetwood in the past month, but all of his other appointments have been in League Two and the Leasing.com Trophy.

Mr Edwards was promoted to the National List for 2019/20 after a couple of seasons refereeing in the National League.

His first EFL appointment was Cambridge v Newport in August and despite being based in the North-East, he has also been sent to cover games as far south as Walsall and Peterborough.

This will be Marc’s 12th match of the campaign, with the previous 11 featuring 27 yellow cards and one red.

And one further piece of information, Marc’s wife is Helen Byrne, the female assistant referee who has officiated at a number of Dale games, most recently the home match versus Bristol Rovers when she had to leave the action due to a knee complaint!
