Refwatch: Rochdale v Sunderland
Monday, 26th Oct 2020 09:00 by TVOS

After Carl Brook on Saturday, Dale will meet another official in his first season on the National List when James Bell takes charge against Sunderland on Tuesday night.

The Sheffield referee made his League One debut at Blackpool v Charlton last midweek, which followed on from him overseeing three League Two fixtures and two ties in the EFL Trophy since his promotion.

James’ first game at EFL level was Grimsby v Harrogate in the EFL Trophy, before he refereed Mansfield v Tranmere on the opening day of the league season.

Having progressed to officiate in the National League for the first time last term, Mr Bell then received the ultimate non-league refereeing accolade when he was appointed to the play-off final between Harrogate and Notts County at Wembley in August.

Unless you’re called Chalky, that game ended in a fine 3-1 win for the team from North Yorkshire!
