Refwatch: Northampton Town v Rochdale
Monday, 22nd Feb 2021 19:00 by TVOS

Somerset referee Kevin Johnson is the man in the middle for Dale’s trip to Northampton Town on Tuesday.

Mr Johnson is in his seventh season on the league list and on Tuesday will referee Dale for only the fourth time, but the second at Northampton.

His other Cobblers’ v Dale appointment was back in November 2014 when we visited Sixfields in the first round of the FA Cup.

Dale ground out a 0-0 draw that afternoon, despite playing most of the game with ten men after Ian Henderson’s early red card.

We next saw Mr Johnson at Sheffield United in August 2016, where Andy Cannon’s first half goal earned Dale a 1-1 draw.

Kevin then refereed another Dale 1-1 draw at AFC Wimbledon in December 2018, where Calvin Andrew scored his final goal for the club.

Johnson mainly officiates at games in League One and League Two, as well as a smattering of cup ties.

This season he has overseen 20 matches, showing 56 yellow cards and four red. His last match was Salford v Carlisle on Saturday.
