Dunphy eyeing Rochdale return?
Tuesday, 30th Mar 2021 10:58

In news broke by Chris Fitzgerald this weekend, former chairman Chris Dunphy appears to be eyeing a return to Rochdale.

There is never a dull day of being a Rochdale fan at the moment and even during an international break with no game to watch, fans were kept on the edge of their seat this weekend when reading the latest from Chris Fitzgerald's blog.

With pressure from supporters increasing to mount on the Rochdale board, Dunphy told Chris Fitzgerald: "As a former chairman and director for more than 30 years, I cannot stand on the sidelines and watch the club, which I have supported all my life, simply disappear without a fight. I can’t imagine having no football club in the town for my children and grandchildren to support."

The hope for Dunphy is that an EGM is called soon in order to garner support for his return ready for when Andrew Kelly's spell as interim chairman comes to an end.

Given Dunphy's popularity with supporters, this is welcome news for many fans although some questions still need to be answered about the mysterious circumstances in which he originally left the club back in 2018.
