Dale splash cash for Campbell
Thursday, 27th Jan 2022 16:14 by Chaff

With Dale being linked with more players than Newcastle in this window, Robbie Stockdale has moved to bring in another attacking option in the form of Tahvon Campbell from Woking.

He joins on a 2 and a half year deal and for an undisclosed fee, rumoured yesterday to be six figures.

The 25-year-old winger, who can play up front, is third in the National League goalscoring charts this season with 13 goals in 21 appearances for The Cardinals.

Campbell is very well travelled, having started out at West Bromwich Albion in 2015 and having six separate loan spells in his time at the Hawthorns before joining Forest Green Rovers on a permanent deal following a loan spell there. He went on loan to Gillingham in 2019 and was released by Forest Green at the end of the season where he joined Cheltenham Town on a free. Further loan spells at Gloucester City and Halifax followed before he joined Woking in July 2021.

His early season form for Woking was sensational and he scored 8 goals in his first 7 games for the club, earning massive praise along the way. In all competitions he has scored 14 in 22 games with his last goal coming away at Yeovil in a 3-1 defeat in the FA Trophy before Christmas.

I won’t list his complete career history, you’ll have to look at that on soccerbase or Wikipedia but in total, he’s scored 30 goals in 177 games and while at West Brom, his U23 coach will have been current Rochdale assistant manager Jimmy Shan.
