Done, Newby and Lynch head Dale released list
Monday, 9th May 2022 18:29 by AtThePeake

Dale announced their released list on Monday afternoon with six first-team players leaving the club without being offered a new deal.

Perhaps the three biggest names heading up the released list were the long-serving Matt Done, goalkeeper Jay Lynch and winger Alex Newby.

They were joined by two more goalkeepers in Joel Coleman and Brad Wade as well as young defender Joe Dunne.

Corey O'Keeffe, Eoghan O'Connell, Max Clark and Stephen Dooley are the four first-team players to be offered new deals, while Jim McNulty has already signed a one-year extension to his player-coach contract.

Second year scholars Jordan Scanlon and Peter Thomas have both been offered professional terms, with Thomas having rejected terms one year ago.

Signing off with a fine finish in Saturday's win at Newport saw Done finish his Dale career with 35 goals in 310 appearances for the club over three separate spells, the second of which included the 2013/2014 promotion from League Two.

Alex Newby meanwhile made 82 appearances for the club in all competitions, managing 13 goals including an ultimately unsuccessful goal of the season contender against Sutton United this season.

Jay Lynch has spent three seasons with the club since joining from non-league Fylde in 2018. He leaves having made 63 appearances in all competition having fought the likes of Gavin Bazunu and Robert Sanchez for the number one jersey over those campaigns.

Neither Joe Dunne nor Brad Wade ever made a league appearance for the Dale while Joel Coleman featured 21 times in his one and only campaign with the club.
