Dale skipper and Player of the Season Eoghan O'Connell has left Rochdale to join Ben Garner's Charlton Athletic.

Well it's hardly a surprise he's gone but he has and at least he's gone to one of football's good clubs in Charlton Athletic. The Addicks have been instrumental in our fight against a hostile takeover.

The 26-year-old played 131 games for Dale, scoring 3 times since his move from the other side of Heywood following the collapse of Bury.

He should be regarded as our of our best ever centre backs for my money and he's going to be a massive loss for Rochdale. His stunning goal against Hartlepool in the last minute will live long in the memory for any Dale fan. It won him Goal of the Season to go along with his Player of the Season award, an award he has won before.
