Tuesday, 11th Oct 2022 19:24 by TVOS

Sunny Gill will referee Dale for the first time when entertain Barrow on Saturday.

The Bracknell-based official is in his first season on the National List and this will be his tenth game at this level.

Sunny started with Northampton v Hartlepool in mid-August, which was an appointment that made the headlines when he became the first South Asian referee in the EFL since his father, Jarnail Singh, in 2010.

He has since officiated up and down the country, with previous northern trips seeing Sunny referee Bradford v Crewe and Stockport v AFC Wimbledon.

His nine appointments to date have yielded 30 yellow cards and one red, which was shown to Burton’s Tom Hamer at home to Forest Green a fortnight ago.

Fourth official on Saturday is Scotsman Bobby Madden, who has relocated to England this year due to work commitments.

He was previously a referee in the Scottish Premier League and oversaw several Old Firm clashes in his time north of the border.
