Rochdale have confirmed that the G.O.A.T Ian Henderson has signed a new one-year contract.

The 41-year-old made 37 appearances in all competitions last season and played an important role in helping Dale secure promotion back to the Football League. Despite starting just seven matches, Henderson still found the net nine times, because that's what he does.

The new deal means Henderson will embark on a fifth season since returning to the club in 2022, having previously spent seven-and-a-half years with Dale during his first spell.

He now sits on 523 appearances for Rochdale, leaving him just eight short of equalling Gary Jones' all-time appearance record. His remarkable haul of 169 goals also makes him the club's leading goalscorer by miles.

With another year secured, Henderson will now have the chance to edge even closer to the club's appearance record while adding to a legacy that already places him as the best to ever pull on the shirt.

It will be interesting now to see how close he gets to beating Tony Ford's record of being the oldest ever Rochdale player at 42 years, 5 months and 20 days
