Dale spent £4000 on agents Wednesday, 18th Aug 2010 09:59 by Col In the latest reports by the Football League on Agents Fees, Dale have been shown to have paid £4000 to agents last season, but they were far from being the biggest spenders in the division. These days, agents are used for a number of roles within the game, rather than just negotiating on behalf of a player. They can be used to retain players, bring in players and to offload players, and from the report, there is nothing to suggest what we received for our £4,000. The report states that Dale were involved in 34 different deals last season - 6 new signings, 3 new contracts, 8 cancelled contracts and 17 loan deals. The biggest spenders unsurprisingly within the division last year were Notts County who spent just short of £250,000 last season on agents fees, some way ahead of Shrewsbury Town who were the second biggest spenders with almost £34,000 spent, and Grimsby the third biggest spenders on agents with nearly £18,000. Throughout the football league, Middlesboro came out as the club who handed the most amount of money over to agents, with almost £1.5 million going to agents. There were eleven teams last seaon in League Two who didn't spend a penny on agents. They were: Accrington, Bournemouth, Barnet, Cheltenham, Chesterfield, Crewe, Dagenham, Darlington, Hereford, Lincoln, Macclesfield and Port Vale.
