Extra distance for Dale fans to travel
Extra distance for Dale fans to travel
Tuesday, 3rd Jun 2008 06:09

Our carbon footprints will be going off the scale this season, given the distances we'll have to travel to watch Dale in every game this season.

The change of sides in League Two will lead to more travelling for Dale supporters in 2008-9. Indeed, the four longest trips that we face will all be against new sides. Even existing trips have increased, given Rotherham's switch from Rotherham to Sheffield.

Pos Team Distance
1st Bury 8.5 miles
2nd Accrington 15.7 miles
3rd Bradford 31.4 miles
4th Macclesfield 32.5 miles
5th Rotherham 49.6 miles
6th Port Vale 50.3 miles
7th Chester 55.6 miles
8th Chesterfield 57.1 miles
9th Morecambe 64.4 miles
10th Shrewsbury 86.1 miles
11th Notts County 90.0 miles
12th Lincoln 101.3 miles
13th Darlington 102.9 miles
14th Grimsby 107.5 miles
15th Luton 181.2 miles
16th Wycombe 194.2 miles
17th Barnet 204.0 miles
18th Brentford 217.9 miles
19th Dagenham 232.1 miles
20th Aldershot 233.7 miles
21sr Bournemouth 246.1 miles
22nd Exeter 253.0 miles
23rd Gillingham 254.6 miles

If you were to attend all matches this season, you'll have done a round trip of 5739 miles - the equivalent to a quarter of the way around the world, and we've not even included any potential Play Off legs or Wembley visits.

All distances have been calculated using the AA's routefinder website, and are worked out using the distance from Spotland to the opposition ground. Or as near as possible in the case of Morecambe and Aldershot who have never been heard of by the AA.
