News just available reports that Crystal Palace co-chairman Steve Parish has given his backing to George Burley.

"Of course not", came the stock reply. "We are all in it together. George has massive experience and has the hunger and drive to get things right.

"George knows what he is doing and gradually it's coming right. We need a few wins on the bounce and things will start looking up."

Football supporters are, by nature, cynical creatures, and we all know that the "we are all behind the manager" statement is usually the headline just before "manager gets sack".

Of course, so far as the encounter tonight is concerned, if Burley is a popular figure in the Selhurst Park dressing room, Norwich City's job will be made all the more difficult as Palace players give their all to save their manager from the sack.
