Scott Wiseman

Position:Right Back
Date of Birth:13th December 1985
Contract Date:June 2012
Previous Clubs:Hull City, Rotherham, Boston United, Darlington

It's actually arguable about whether right back Scott Wiseman is in his first or second spell with the club. For after his first year at the club, he found himself on the released list having been given a free transfer. But when Simon Ramsden opted not to take up a clause entitling him to an extra twelve months at the club, and try out the greener grass at Bradford City instead, Dale boss Keith Hill was straight on the phone to get signed up again - all done before his original contract had expired.

But arguments aside, one thing is certain is that Wiseman has proved himself in his two years at the club to be a very popular and capable player to the extent that Ramden's departure proved to be very much a massive blessing in disguise.

His career began at Hull City, a side he joined straight from school, but he was very much a victim of their success as he found it difficult to break into the first team as the Tigers ventured up the divisions. He made just a handful of appearances for Hull, and had loan spells at Boston and Rotherham in a bid to get him some first team action.

A similar loan spell at Darlingon proved to be such a success that the Quakers made his move a permanent one, but the permanent move didn't work out as well as he would have hoped, with less appearances in a year than he had made in his two month loan spell.

He joined Dale after impressing against ourselves in the Play Off games with Darlington in 2008, initially on a six month contract which was later extended to the end of the season. He battled it out with Ramsden for that right back slot during that first season, and was considered to be very unlucky to be on that aforementioned initial released list back in 2009.

He's very much an attack minded right back, blessed with plenty of pace with an almost inbuilt desire to get forward, and he was very much an integral part of the Dale side that won automatic promotion in 2009-10.

He signed a new two year contract with the club in the Summer of 2012.
