Yes mate It Is a separate Company, we'd only do about Three roadworks per Year and that was enough, the last road works I Managed was in Basingstoke involving two roundabouts, a bloody school a bleeding bus stop an entrance and exit to a large supermarket, and right slap bang In the middle of It all was a zebra crossing.
(we weren't very popular). |

I was a trained Street Works Engineer for our Construction Company before I retired, I'd spend days doing risk and method statements before carrying out highways work, meet and discuss with the Police, meet and discuss with the local authority, Do a letter drop to the local community, discuss with the local community, contact the Fire and Ambulance services with plans/time schedule etcetera, shag the housewife from number 28.
And the very day you start work and switch the traffic lights on you get verbally abused by just about every "whingebag" that ever lived. |

I'm indifferent about the bloke, I look at our league position and go ''yea well whatever'' It's how It is.
He was getting terrible abuse on here a while back which I thought was unjustified. |

Here In Oxfordshire we are Infested with bastard, dangerous potholes, they are of course sodding evil and In the space of the last Five years I've blown Two very expensive tyres.
The only good thing I'll say Is here In Wantage they seem to be building more cycle paths which Is good for the Missus as she loves going out on the bike.
The roads are poorly lit now which doesn't help anybody this time of Year, don't bother trying to tell me that our car tax Is money well spent. |

When I was working we done a fair few new pitches, courts etcetera, the biggest 'Issues' we had with clients was lack of programmed maintenance being carried out.
Each pitch that we laid (our recognised/approved contractors) would come with Operation and Maintenance manuals, they were seldom used by the client due to cost (everything In this bloody world that goes wrong Is blamed on cost). |

We're languishing just turning up now and again, we've fallen by the wayside, It's seems to me the success for us would be surviving mid table In the Championship that Is our benchmark now and has been for a while, I remember Alan Hanson saying he hated playing at LR because the pitch was so close to the fans who used to give the visiting players stick.
I look at our squad and think Meh, I reckon Managers from other clubs look at our squad and thing Meh.
I'm almost at the shrugging of shoulders stage about the whole thing. |

I'd like to say I'm sorry but...........
In all my years of working I turned up ready to work, on a few occasions I worked all day on site and Instead of going home I worked with my Brother In law right through that night shuttering and reinforcing a staircase the coming weekend we concreted the staircase and over the next few days we worked late Into the night striking the bloody staircase, all the time carrying out my work during the day as a site Manager, no It's not a big deal on my part but I'm gonna take some convincing that Eleven so called f king professional footballers are not fit and ready for action.
If we are putting players on the pitch who are not 100% fit and ready to go then someone needs their arse kicking into shape.
I never could understand or take on board professional footballers not being fit on matchday.
There'll be a million excuses but none of them will convince me.
Get fit or f ck off. |
