Sky link Dale with Mark Jones
Sky Sports have linked Dale with a move for former Wrexham midfielder Mark Jones, after his proposed move to League One Peterborough United has fallen through.
The deal to take Jones to London Road was set to go through earlier in the Summer, but Jones received a cheek injury whilst playing in a baseball game which delayed the transfer.
However, there's been a delay in Jones reaching full fitness which has prompted Peterborough to pull out of the deal, and following that it's been suggested that we are interested in him.
The cheek injury has delayed his return to full fitness, but it is believed according to Sky that he has been given the all clear to start training now.
Whilst with Wrexham, Jones received two call ups to play for the Welsh national side, though it appears he may have lost his way over the past season or so. But clearly, Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson recognises Jones as a talent from his own playing days at Wrexham.
Indeed, Keith Hill had a loan spell at Wrexham a few years back, whilst Jones was coming through the ranks at the Racecourse.
Of course, this whole thing might just be agent talk with too much being read into it.
