Former loan strikers move on

Two former Dale loan strikers have moved on to sign permanent deals with higher division clubs this week.

The first is Jordan Rhodes who spent time on loan at Spotland last season. He scored twice during his time with Dale before returning back to Ipswich Town. A later spell on loan at Brentford helped secure the League Two title for the Griffin Park club.

He has this week signed a permanent contract with Huddersfield Town. The deal is said to be for an initial fee of £150,000 which could rise to as high as £850,000 depending on appearances and certain clauses being met.

The other striker making a move is Reuben Reid. Reid had a controversial month on loan during the first season of Keith Hill has manager. He had joined Dale from Plymouth but was sent back to Home Park before the month had expired after allegedley criticising the coaching methods at Spotland.

Following a successful season at Rotherham last season, Reid has signed a deal with Championship side West Bromwich Albion. The fee involved is believed to be £200,000.

As well as his loan spell, Reid will be remembered for his penalty against Frank Fielding last season, where Fielding's pointing managed to put Reid off, with Reid's spot kick hitting the cross bar.
