LFW Travel Guides — Chelsea, Stamford Bridge

QPR face a Sunday lunchtime showdown with Chelsea this weekend, and the 3,000 supporters making the trip are likely to have to plan carefully with a heavy police presence anticipated.

Ground Name: Stamford Bridge

Capacity: 42 449

Address: Fulham Road, London, SW6 1HS

Main Telephone No: 0871 984 1955

Ticket Office: 0871 984 1905

By Car:

Always tricky to provide directions to a London game as people are coming from all different parts of the capital and rest of the country but essentially you come into town over the Hammersmith flyover, take the Earls Court turning a mile or so later and drive past the station there and down the one way system to Fulham Road. Turn right at the lights and the ground is another half mile or so further up on your right.

Parking:

As you would expect from an older ground in the middle of London there are no large designated car parks, and a plethora of residents permit schemes around the stadium to make parking difficult. Park further afield or use public transport is the best advice I can give.

By Train

Most QPR fans will arrive by train or tube for this one I would think. Fulham Broadway on the District line is the closest underground station to the stadium but this is an absolute bloody nightmare after the game so may only be good for getting you there and not away afterwards. Earls Court is walkable I suppose while overground trains from Shepherds Bush and Clapham Junction stop at nearby West Brompton.

The following tube closures are in place:

- No District Line on the Richmond branch between Richmond and Turnham Green, replacement bus services operate.

- No Bakerloo Line service between Harrow and Wealdstone and Queens Park until midday, and again after 21.00. Replacement bus services provided.

- No service on the Jubilee Line between Stratford and North Greenwich before 10.00. Replacement bus services provided.

- The Waterloo and City Line is closed on Sundays, please use the Central and Northern Lines to connect between Bank and Waterloo.

Coach: No coach travel is being provided by either the club or the LSA for this London fixture.

Pubs:

Round the ground is probably a bit of a no go for QPR fans with a heightened police presence sure to be in place after the events of the earlier this season. Probably best to drink in small groups further afield if you are to avoid becoming caught up in large scale frog marches organised the police that occurred on our previous cup visits here. Many I know are planning to drink in the usual pubs around Shepherds Bush and then get the overground down there but again I’d say that any drinking in large groups, particularly around the Bush or Hammersmith, is likely to attract attention..

Tickets: QPR have not surprisingly sold out their allocation of around 3,000 tickets for this one..
