You can Trust in Scott to walk the 92 for a good cause

I honestly can't remember when I made the decision to walk to all 92 League Football clubs in one long walk, but I maintain I was sober at the time...probably.

It all stemmed from a desire to remove myself from London where I have been plying my trade and living since 2001 and move back to my hometown of Portsmouth in order to make it far easier to get involved in the Supporters' Trust work that had all but consumed my life for the past two years.

As part of that process of quitting my job and making the move home it seemed logical to me at the time I should achieve something first. Thus Walkthe92 project was born.

As you can imagine working for the Pompey Supporters Trust has been "eventful" in the last few years, as all Trusts have usually found they are forged in the crucible of fire that engulfs a club when it has been badly managed - sometimes maliciously - and has fallen into financial ruin.  That means those that work for them more often than not get burnt with that fire and find that their support for the cause suffers.

Being Trust Spokesman I can say that has been my experience. Although I am certainly not alone on the PST Board, sacrifices great and small have been made, sometimes without much choice in the matter.

My respect for the work that Trusts and Fan organisations do up and down the country is huge and I aim to help promote the issues and causes that matter as I go, a roving ambassador if you will, and I am delighted to have the support of the FSF and Supporters Direct to aid me as I go.

The work both organisations ands its members are doing to improve football at every level is a growing movement, not just here in the UK but abroad as well in Europe, the fans are on the march and in unison.  It will be a very powerful force to be reckoned with in the coming 10-20 years and I am excited to be a small part of that.

This Walkthe92 project relies on fan generosity in helping me achieve my goals and to also give me company as I walk the route.  Without the help of fellow football fans, it will be very difficult to make the eight month trek.  I have the help of a team of friends that are helping set up clubs and supporters groups at each club and I want to thank them for their generous help so far.

I also hope to raise £92k for Prostate Cancer UK and that is my main charity, which is also the Football League charity for the 2012-13 season.

So, if you can help with offers of accommodation or of help with events at clubs when I arrive or just wish to follow my progress, then all the details are at www.walkthe92.co.uk

Please help me if you can.
