Jewell: Game Boring But Happy With Week's Work
Blues boss Paul Jewell admitted that Town’s 1-1 draw with Den Bosch was somewhat less than a classic but overall was pleased with the way the pre-season training camp near Eindhoven has gone. Aaron Cresswell netted a deflected freekick as both Town’s Dutch pre-season games ended 1-1.
Jewell said: "It was a pretty boring game, let’s be honest. The way they play, it was like keep-ball, there was no tempo to the game.
"We’ve worked the players hard while we’ve been here and I think it showed today - we looked a bit flat. There were lots of changes, lots of people we were trying to get an hour into and we didn’t pick up any injuries.”
The Blues boss has been pleased with the way the week has gone: "It’s been good. The performances in the games haven’t been brilliant but it’s about working towards August 18th.
"We think we know where we need to strengthen, it’s not as if we don’t know. We need a couple of players, two or three players, to get the team physically stronger.
"We are a small team, we need to do better with the ball and without the ball. But it’s all about fitness, it’s all about training, not about the result.
"We didn’t lose, that’s twice we’ve come from behind, but it’s not about the result at this stage of pre-season, it’s about learning about players and getting players fit.”
