Pompey fans booing one of their own in a blue shirt? The unthinkable happened at the EBB stadium in Aldershot on Wednesday 1st August 2012.
As the recipient was Tal Ben Haim though, those puzzled by this unheard-of dissent will nod and gasp “Aaaaah, I see”, the explanation being “It’s Ben Haim, no wonder”.
Tal Ben Haim, about as popular as someone using the Turin Shroud to put out a chip pan fire, has become the symbolic figurehead for football greed in general, a trait which has led Pompey to their imminent demise. Even the Aldershot fans joined in the condemnation of Ben Haim. Unfair on him to be fair, but his stance to hold out for as much as he can get puts the 114 year-old club in real jeopardy...
