Ferrie Tells Reading And Derby County He's Happy

Ferrie Bodde has sent a message to Reading and Derby that he is happy at Swansea

The midfielder scored eight times last season as part of his influential role in the centre of midfield and those performances have already attracted the eye from the two clubs - both relegated from the Premiership last season.   Both clubs see Bodde as the ideal man to spearhead their midfield as they look to try and return to the Premiership next season.

But so far the Swans have held firm and the one firm bid received - £500,000 from Derby - was laughed out of the boardroom by Chairman Huw Jenkins who simply asked why the Swans would want to sell.   Reports suggest that the bidding though could go higher and get stronger which will test the Swans resolve to hold onto their man.

But Bodde himself has remained quiet to date and never made real comment on transfer speculation or his happiness at the club.   That is until today when he told the Wales on Sunday “I had a great year at Swansea and I am happy with the club

“We won promotion, had a great season, and I want the opportunity to play in the Championship with Swansea.

“On a personal level, I have signed a contract with Swansea, had a brilliant year and, at the moment, I am looking forward to coming back after my holiday.

“You never know what will happen in football,” he continued.

“When you don’t know what is on offer you can never decide anything for certain.

“Until this moment in time, nothing has happened and I am happy with that.

“My agent is handling everything for me anyway.

“I have heard about Derby’s interest but it is not something I think about. Unless the clubs agree a deal, I don’t need to.

“At the moment I don’t want to know anything more about it.”

It does appear that the Ferrie Bodde interest could the news story that will run and run with the only real question developing around whether the interested sides will get to a level of transfer fee that will make Swansea sit up and think.
