Saints At Sheff Utd The Preview

Saints face a difficult trip to Sheffield United

Make no bones about it Saints trip to Sheffield united is not going to be easy, if only for the fact that we fase Saints old boy James Beattie.

Beattie as we all know always scores in bursts and theres no doubting he is in scoring form at the moment, however his run has to stop at some point so why not on Saturday.

On the injury form there is some good news, whilst Rudi Skacel looks set to miss out again and of course the long term injuries to Lundekvam and Powell, Jason Euell and Nathan Dyer seem to have recovered and will travel with the squad to Yorkshire.

The Flying Dyer

That leaves Burley with a selection headache, in truth Hamill did well enough to warrnat atarting at Bramall Lane, but Dyer was in red hot form prior to his injury, for my mind I think Hammill's work rate in defending isnt good enough and i would bring back Dyer, worryingly enough the official site talks of both Dyer and Hammill playing with Surman moving inside, so which one of the duo who have been the one shining light of the season will the manager drop then ? Safri or Viafara.

Up front its anyones guess as to which of the strikers he will play, I wouldnt even hazard a guess !

But its the back four that is intriguing, if my sources are right Phil Ifel of Spurs will join tommorrow morning and he could slot straight in at right back, of course in the centre there isnt much choice it has to be Dailly and Thomas, but who will play at left back, Vignal or Wright, most Saints fans would put their shirts on Wright getting the nod from the manager.

Vignal

Again worryingly the OS talks of Wright being released to return to the midfield, hey George, reality check Wright is at least seventh in line for a midfield spot at the moment, dont even think of it.

That being the case then its a hard choice on the bench with the problem being that after putting on a keeper and a defender, either Ostlund or Vignall, then he has to perm three from at a guess, Euell, John, Saganowski & Dyer, a difficult decision, but in truth a good one because if the game isnt going our way, at least we do have options from the bench.

Option From Bench

Its going to be difficult and very few saints fans would predict a win, but Im going to and by the margin of 3-1.
