Well it had all the ingredients.....LDV , rain, conference side and the ground in the middle of nowhere. the S.E jacks met up in anticipation of a dire encounter and from a effort perspective the lads in yellow supplied dire at its promising best. 115 jacks made the journey and some from Swansea (these deserve a medal) to witness our patched up side. I could go on about boro's 10 attempts at goal in the first half but their lack of quality finishing somehow saved us all a trip to highbury to watch the gooners second half. Our only glimmer of hope was a good move down the right with Thomas heading well past Wilson in the boro goal from a pin point cross. 2nd half Thinking we should go on and win the game the early part of the second half saw boro sustain long periods of pressure and it was only a matter of time before the defence was breached and a double strike on the hour finished us off. A double substitution saw Lacey replaced by Jackson and Murphy for wood. Flynn now switched a to 4-3-3 with Murphy joining Thomas and Cash for a 20 min long ball onslaught , sadly the players had no idea of this makeshift formation and the exits beckoned, Murphy came in for some stick for just being Murphy and the game was lost. - Freestone- No Protection (Again)
- Jones - Star For The Future ,Man Of The Match
- Howard- Started Okay But Faded Badly(Again)
- O'leary- Exposed By Pace (Again)
- Theobold - Struggled All Night
- Reid- Not A Left Midfielder And It Shows.
- Jenkins- No Real Creativity.
- Lacey- Less Said The Better I Think.
- Cash- Quality Runs , I'll Think We'll Miss Him Already.
- Thomas- Good Goal But When Is He Ever Going To Get Quality Service To His Feet.
- Wood- Wind Him Up And Watch Him... Anyway.
- Murphy- Not A Striker, Not Even A Midfielder Not Quite Sure What !
- Jackson- A Decent Haircut Wouldn't Go A Miss.

Saints V Stoke City A Look Back In Pictures 2In the second part of our pictorial look back at some of our games against Stoke City from the past, here we look back at more recent games, so most of you would have been at them.
Southampton V Stoke City The PreviewSaints go into the last two games of the season with their hopes of automatic promotion ended, even the hope of finishing 3rd is only a point away from being ended, but they do have something to play for and that is getting back the togetherness, character & fight Russell Martin has recently be moaned.
No Togetherness No Character No FightNot my words, but those of Southampton manager Russell Martin, who should ask himself the question why two months ago we had all those attributes and now we don't !
Southampton At Leicester The DebacleThe big question is how can a side that was so tight at the back, so clinical up front and who could pass the ball around almost with their eyes closed, become the disorganised rabble that they were at the Leicester City this evening.
Southampton At Leicester City The PreviewSaints travel up to Leicester knowing that it is almost certain that they will just be in the play offs come the end of the season, however there is still the feint hope of 3rd place to play for, however the Foxes are playing for a bigger prize.
A Rough Guide To Leicester City FCSaints head up to Leicester City this evening with their automatic promotion hopes just about over, so for the 3,000 fans who bought their tickets when there was hope here are the details.
Southampton At Cardiff City The VerdictThere can be no excuses for this defeat, a loss that effectively means that it will be a play off spot and not an automatic promotion place for Southampton, so where did it all go wrong.
