Weeklis Horriblis

Certainly it can be said that, so far the week has been disappointing and the news that Daps may be out for longer, and Maylett is another long termer, adds salt to the wound(s). For me it was only a matter of time when the two brightest, creative stars we have, were to pick up knocks, it happens to all sides in all seasons, lets get on with it. However are things as bad as we portray, we Jacks know no middle ground, things are brilliant or cr@p, we find it hard too accept there will be times when the dice doesn't fall for us. Now is the time when we have to battle, the time to play expansive football will come again and if the team work hard enough that time will come back around a lot sooner than everyone thinks. I took the time to look back at the Championship season this week and discovered that at the same point of that season we had amassed 23pts from our games played, we are ahead of the game and for me this squad is better than last years so i cannot see us losing 6 games on the trot like last year. We are well placed We are not alone in our difficulties, Arsenal, dwarves, Sheffield United and not to forget Rangers who very nearly could not fill their bench in the Champions League against Man Utd this week are clubs also down to the bare bones. It is now the sign of the times when squads will be stretched to the limit as smaller squads are the norm. Look at York they have no money and have 18 in their squad their time will come in terms of injuries and suspensions. It is the sign of the economical cycle football is now in. I for one to do not go along with criticising the training methods if these were wrong I cannot remember the squad facing these difficulties last season and Flynn was in charge then as well. We have been kicked by all and sundry this season and this has taken its toll As I have said previously the only injuries that have caused me concern are those to Jones,Thomas,Hylton as they appear to be self inflicted (prepared to be corrected) all the others have been the result of knocks. To this end I do think that Flynn is a little shy in telling us the true extent of injuries. Recently we were told these 3 players were imminent in their return, we are still waiting to see them though. For me now is the perfect time to get some loan players in, by the sounds of it Tate is on his way back to us and with Duffy back after tomorrow's game i think the defensive part of the squad will suffice. Midfield and up front is where things are most needed, a midfield enforcer and a keen aggressive striker are the keys to now until Christmas. There is no need to panic at this stage and by taking only 3 loanees this still leaves us room to bring in someone after Xmas when the squad should be back to something like the strength we all know is there. So its time for chins up and stop feeling sorry for ourselves, we are in a far healthier position than our competitors would want us. Take on board all of those who have slagged us off this season, take it as a sign that we are feared and we are seen as GENUINE competitors to the rest of the division only Hull are ahead of us in terms of squad strength. Northampton have a big squad but has it the quality! To say that the side that will take the field tomorrow has not got the wherewithal to win is doing them a grave disservice and they should be supported even more loudly now. Remember what we did when we were most needed last season, we got off our backsides got to all parts of the UK and were very very noisy in our support. The side have given us a very very positive start to the season, its now our turn to show them that we appreciate their efforts C,mon the Swans BLESSED BE Watch
