Trundle: "More Goals"

Trundle Showboats Onto Soccer AM Again

Lee Trundle has long been admired by Tim Lovejoy and Helen Chamerlain on the Saturday morning Sky Sports Show "Soccer AM"

Virtually since the moment he kicked last season off with such style has there been a week where the name of Trundle doesn't feature on the show and yet again this morning they took the advantage of his current injury break to invite 'Mr Showboat' himself onto the programme.

Last time Lee ventured onto the famous sofa he coined a now legendary Soccer AM catchphrase "I Love DVDs" which related to the T-Shirt he was wearing at the time. This time around Trundle opted for a much more sedate outfit with no such proclaims and revealed that autography hunters have continually asked him to write the phrase next to his signature in their books.

Trundle will miss today's game at Wycombe through a flare up of his knee injury although he did proclaim that he would rather miss just this game then play and see him out for a longer spell. He missed four months of last season and stated that his aim is to better last season's goal tally providing he remains clear of the injuries that have dogged him throughout 2004.

He repeated his ambition to play at a higher level and also internationally and he feels that playing for Swansea means that he is overlooked by the Republic of Ireland a point that he doesn't really understand because his abilities are the same.

Trundle raised a laugh out of the shows presenter by saying that we 'drawed 1-1' with Cheltenham and he was quick to point out his goal tally for this season of three from five goals.

Clips of Trundle showboating last weekend against Kidderminster were shown together with his goal which looks better every time you see it.

He also stated the desire for the club to get promoted ready for their 'fantastic' new stadium next season and was clearly impressed with the tightening of the defence this season through the new players that Kenny Jackett brought in.

Trundle though had disappointment for presenter Helen Chamberlain when he told her that he had not heard of a reported bid from her beloved Torquay United. As If!

Finally he revealed that he likes to wind defenders up and believes that if he makes them angry it makes his job easier as they are less focused on the ball.

Whatever people's feelings on Trundle it matters not, the guy loves his football and I suspect that football needs more people like Lee Trundle who bring the fun back into the game.
