The Best Yet....

The Best Yet - More To Come?

Yesterday was quite possibly the biggest win of the season to date. No matter how it happened and all the comments that have passed since the game, we posted a result that stated our intentions and started the home run to what we hope to be promotion with a win.

Ending Boston's unbeaten home record was good enough as it is, extending our lead over 4th place was an added bonus and now you would have to fancy the top three teams to occupy those positions come the end of the season.

During the last two months, everyone has pointed at teams making a break from the chasing pack to challenge but the reality is that none of them are doing that and you wonder if they ever will. Of course someone will put a run together at some stage but they are leaving it late and, despite Scunny's recent poor form, the top 3 have shown enough over the past five months to suggest that they will continue to hold those three points.

It is widely predicted that around 80-82 points is what it takes to get promotion from this division. Based on that statistic then the sides below are looking at 2 points from every 3 available to reach that milestone. A figure that seems unlikely when you consider that none have managed more than 1.6 so far this season

Of course nothing can be taken for granted but few Swansea fans could say that it doesn't look good. We all would like to see new faces in the squad now but if we make it without them come May then who could complain too loudly? Goals are going in - we are now among the top scorers in the division, we have two goalscorers in the top scorers chart. We have started conceding more but 1-0 or 3-2, it still is the same outcome of three points.

We have to fancy three points next weekend against Chester and if we can follow that with three against Southend then we are well on the way. I'm setting a goal of 78 points for this season, anything more than that and I just cannot see us being caught. And all the time we remain on the heels of Yeovil who surely must be due a sticky patch? Repeat of 2000 anyone?

Yesterday could very well prove to be a pivotal point in our season - when we went from a side that thought they could do it and played with that in mind to a side that knew they could do it and stepped up two confidence levels. Over half the division had tried to win at York Street and failed so it is a massive booster.

I would now use the FAW tie in midweek to give some of the other player a run out - we will need them before the season finishes - and then let's take 6 points from the next 6 and before too long Bob could very easily be your mother's sister's husband.

THE JACKS ARE GOING UP!
