Scunthorpe Preview

Swansea Look To Continue Great Form

I do feel now that previews will be an anti-climax all season. Nothing will ever top the Tranmere preview where the sheer mention of scousers had them up the wall and fingers were pointed. "That ain't funny sheep shagger" and "how stereotypical was that" were rife. Point. Missed. Well, thanks to a late goal from Andy Robinson it was two points missed for them anyway. I am led to believe that Scunny fans have a sense of humour - well if you had a nutter for a manager then you'd have to wouldn't you. Look at us when John Hollins was here.

Kenny Jackett's massive Swansea City are back in action tomorrow evening at the Rock when Scunthorpe arrive looking to topple us off our position as league leaders. It won't be an easy task - only local neighbours Donny have won at the Rock this season in the league and to be fair that was only after we made changes that literally changed the game against us so surely they don't have a prayer.

I will get it straight early on in the preview. And that is to say I don't like Scunthorpe United. Well, that is probably harsh as a football club I have nothing against them but while they have Laws in charge I don't like them. I will never forgive him for trying to encourage trouble in the play off semi final back in 1999 by laying and kissing an English flag in the centre circle - something that would have led to almost certain arrest had a fan done it. Sheer madness. Since then Laws has proved that he cannot abide us, whinging after almost every game that he loses against us that something went against them. Lets hope he is whinging again tomorrow.

Scunthorpe have sold a grand total of 50 tickets for tomorrow night making for a noisy following which could well out sing us. Well, it could do if it brings down a sound system similar to that used by Queen when they were performing sell out tours. Maybe that wouldn't be enough? Either way it is a long way from Scunthorpe on a Tuesday night especially when you are gonna get hammered !!!

Team news wise we surely have to start with Martinez tomorrow after his match changing appearance against Tranny 10 days ago. And with Robbo likely to start instead of Maccs we could finish with that side bar Leon back in for leaping Salmon Forbesy. On paper that looks good enough to win - shame we have to play on grass

For Scunthorpe, 98 year old Peter Beagrie is back in contention for a starting place and could find himself playing along side Scunny's answer to Peter Crouch in Steve Torpey. Other than that I know little about them other than Billy Sharp looks quite useful. They are on a bad run which is good news for us surely?

But back to their manager and it is only fitting to leave you with a composition by Lennon and McCartney for their manager

Laws, Laws, Laws Laws, Laws, Laws Laws, Laws, Laws

There's nothing you say that should be said Nothing you can say that we've not read Nothing you can say but you can learn to play the game Easy Easy

Cry like a girl when you lose a game We begin to think that you're insane Nothing you can do but stop whinging all the time Easy Easy

All you hear is Laws All you read is Laws Always Bleating, Laws, Laws Laws is moaning again

All you hear is Laws All you read is Laws Always Bleating, Laws, Laws Laws is moaning again

Nothing you can know that isn't known Nothing you can see that isn't shown Nowhere you can be that is far enough away Easy Easy

All you hear is Laws All you read is Laws Always Bleating, Laws, Laws Laws is moaning again

All you hear is Laws (all together now) All you read is Laws (everybody!) Always Bleating, Laws, Laws Laws is moaning again (Laws is moaning again)

Tonda Eckert Set To Get More Time But Are Saints Biding Their Time For Their Man To Be Available
When Tonda Eckert took over as Southampton manager on an interim basis, if you had said then that he would win his first four games and only lose a fifth with a 97th injury time winner, most would have been delighted and now he looks set to continue, at least for the short term.
Southampton At Millwall The Verdict
Saints fell to their first defeat under Tonda Eckert at Millwall, in a game where they never really got going and looked to have fought for a hard earned point until with just about the last win of the game the home side scored a winner.

German Club Considering Raiding Southampton
With the transfer window about to open in a months time, the season for speculation is starting, the latest reports from Germany suggest that one Bundesliga club has identified someone at St Mary's.
A Rough Guide To Millwall
It was late drama in our last visit in a competitive game two years ago and a bit chaotic afterwards due to issues with the trains between London Bridge & South Bermondsey, hopefully there will be no such issues this time around.
Southampton V Leicester City The Verdict
It was 4 in a row for Tonda Eckert & his Saints side, another polished performance that pushed us up to 11th but more importantly to the fringes of the play off spots, posing the question how a team and it's players who were so poor just 3 weeks or so ago can be so different now.

Southampton V Leicester City The Preview
Saints try to make it 4 straight league games when they take on Leicester at St Mary's, the Foxes themselves are unbeaten in 3 after drawing 1 and then winning their last 2 outings, does something have to give or will it end up all square.
