Jackett Targets Guttridge
Guttridge For Swansea? |
The Evening Post is reporting that Swansea are showing an interest in Southend's midfielder Luke Guttridge. The 24 year old was an almost ever present last season as the Shrimpers won the League One title but he has recently fallen out of favour as Southend battle relegation. The 24-year-old former Cambridge player is only 5ft 6in, but is known for his tackling and ball-winning ability. He is also a good passer of the ball and contributed five goals to the Southend cause last season. Guttridge started this season in Steve Tilson's side - he has managed 14 starts - but lost his place at the back end of last month and is understood to be unhappy at Roots Hall. Tilson has admitted his interest in Preston midfielder Alan McCormack - who put in a transfer request this week - meaning Guttridge could slip even further down the Southend pecking order. With Tudur Jones and Way long term casualties and Darren Pratley also currently injured then Jackett is looking for new faces ahead of the loan transfer window closing next Thursday. Leyton Orient are also reported to be interested. What to read next:Southampton 0 - 1 Stoke City - Player Ratings and Reports

Not my words, but those of Southampton manager Russell Martin, who should ask himself the question why two months ago we had all those attributes and now we don't ! The big question is how can a side that was so tight at the back, so clinical up front and who could pass the ball around almost with their eyes closed, become the disorganised rabble that they were at the Leicester City this evening.
