Bodde To "Reform"

Bodde Vows To Clean Up Act

Ferrie Bodde has stated his desire to lose his "bad boy" image as he prepares to return to the first team at Leeds tomorrow following his three match ban after a red card against Doncaster.

Bodde was red carded instantly in th 2-1 home defeat for an aimed headbutt at Brian Stock, himself a former Swansea City target.

The Swans have coped without their influential midfielder, winning all three matches in his absence but will almost definitely propel him back into the starting line up as they take on unbeaten Leeds at Elland Road.

Speaking ahead of the game, Bodde told the Evening Post "Everybody thinks that I am the red-card man, but that is only the second time I've been sent off and the first time ever it's been a straight red"My only other red card was for two yellows, one for a normal tackle and one for standing in front of the ball (at a free-kick)."I don't know why they call me the Dutch Roy Keane. It must be for picking up yellow cards, because I've never done something stupid like I did against Doncaster before.

"A lot of things happened in that game

"They tried to wind me up and I have to learn that people want to catch you out."I heard on the TV after the game that Ferrie Bodde had started it, but it actually started in the first minute when I got a kick on my ankle."Then there was another later in the first half, then at the start of the second half there was an elbow in my stomach."The ref told me to keep smiling each time, and I was wondering why he hadn't done anything about it. "The fourth time I was on the ground and their player was standing on my knee. I held him, then I thought he was going to bounce his head against mine and what I did was a reaction. It was a small touch, but the ref sent me off.

"As soon as it happened I felt bad," he goes on. "We were the best side at that point, we were getting close to a second goal."Then I went off and not long afterwards Doncaster had equalised. I've never felt so bad in my football career as I did then."I said sorry to my team-mates and to the gaffer, and I'm also sorry to the fans. I know my reaction wasn't good."

"I cannot say that I will never get sent off again, you can't say 100 per cent because humans react," he adds. "But I have learned my lesson. I know I have to control myself and I think I can do that."I have to do that, because I promised the gaffer and the rest of the lads that it will not happen again."
