West Brom Manager Has No Worries About Survival
Tony Mowbray insists that the Swans have nothing to be worried about in the Championship survival stakes after yesterday's game
Tipped by many to struggle, Mowbray insists that the Swans have got nothing to worry about after his side were fortunate to escape the Liberty Stadium with a draw in the KOL testimonial match.
Mowbray's side were second best for large periods of the game and had it not been for some poor (ish) finishing the Swans could easily have won the game by one or two goals.
And that in itself was enough for Mowbray - who led his side to the Championship title last season - to say that the Swans would stay up although there were words of caution that there will be some tough days ahead this season.
Speaking after the 0-0 draw, Mowbray said “I think Swansea will be fine in the Championship, I like the way they play and they are a credit to my philosophy of how the game should be played.
“Roberto will have his own beliefs and know what he wants to do. But if they stick to what they did against us then they will be fine.
“They have got some very good players. The challenge for them is to produce in the Championship and it’s a very tough league.”
“There are a lot of tough days when you try to play football in the Championship. Teams recognise your strengths and they try to stop you playing.
“Teams will work Swansea out very quickly and a lot of teams in that league are based around stopping the opposition and scoring goals of set plays. So if you can’t defend your box, you will lose matches.
“I wish them good look with it.”
