Monk - Rodgers Oozes Confidence
Garry Monk believes that the new manager brings plenty of confidence with him to the Liberty
The Swansea City captain was speaking out after the Swans ended their managerial hunt on Friday with the formal appointment of Rodgers as successor to Paulo Sousa.
And Monk believes that the new manager has an air of confidence about him that can only benefit the players and the club.
He told the Evening Post "All the boys are eager for some leadership, and he oozes confidence in the meeting we've had with him already
"We're looking forward to working with someone who wants to play football, which is the style we play.
"He said he wants to keep the same footballing style, make a few tweaks here and there and add to the quality we've already got.
"We set high standards anyway and it looks like he's going to set high standards again for the coming season.
"With the pedigree he's got, the people he's coached and the teams that he's coached with, hopefully that is what can take us to the next level.
"We've only had a quick meeting and he's outlined his ambitions. Maybe that (attack) is an area he wants to improve, but we're going to have to try to improve all over the park anyway," he said.
"We set high targets for ourselves, but it is going to be difficult unless we get players in here and there.
"We've lost Leon and obviously we lost Jason (Scotland) and Jordi (Gomez) the season before.
"We need to improve across the board, but there are certain areas we really need to improve on.
"I'm sure the manager will have ideas and whatever task he sets us, we'll have to make sure we stick to it and keep pushing ourselves."
