Rodgers - Dobbie Is On Penalty Duties

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that the next penalty will be taken by Stephen Dobbie

The Swansea City manager confirmed that David Cotterill will be taken off penalty duties after his second miss of the season against QPR and Dobbie will step up to the plate to take the next one.

Speaking ahead of the game against QPR, Rogders said “David was the number one penalty taker.

“I’ve spoke with him and reinforced that it’s one of those things that happens in football.

“What we have here at the club is a number of penalty takers.

“It is important. When you have moments like that in games, especially big games, that can be the difference.

“I need to give someone else a chance to come in and take the penalties. Stephen Dobbie was our No 2 penalty taker and he can take up the baton.”

Dobbie himself was more than happy to step up and he added “Since the gaffer’s come in Dave’s been the number one penalty taker and if he wasn’t playing I would take them, so if the gaffer wants to change them it’s up to him.

“Everybody misses a penalty, you’ve just got to get on with it and try and score the next one.

“The goalkeeper made a good save against QPR and it was the same up at Norwich.

“I took penalties when I was up in Scotland but when you come to a big club like Swansea there are always a lot of good players looking to take them.”
