Refwatch Preview: Doncaster v Dale
Dale won’t want history to repeat itself when Gary Sutton takes charge of our Capital One Cup tie at Doncaster on Tuesday.
Mr Sutton was the man in the middle a year ago for the 3-4 home defeat to Keith Hill’s Barnsley at the same stage of the competition, when he sent-off The Tykes’ goalkeeper and awarded Dale two penalties!
Two months later he pointed to the spot THREE times at Plymouth, but while Argyle converted their two penalties, Bobby Grant missed for Dale in a 3-1 loss.
Tuesday will see Gary referee Dale for the tenth time and as the following list shows, we are still looking for our first win under his officiating:
Aug 2005 v Cheltenham (h), D 1-1
Dec 2005 v Wrexham (a), L 1-2
Nov 2006 v Barnet (a), L 2-3
Aug 2009 v Rotherham (a), L 1-2
Apr 2010 v Torquay (a), L 0-5
Feb 2011 v Walsall (a), D 0-0
Nov 2011 v Brentford (h), L 1-2
Aug 2012 v Barnsley (h, LC), L 3-4
Oct 2012 v Plymouth (a), L 1-3
Last season the Lincolnshire official handled 31 games, showing 85 yellow cards and eight red. He started this campaign with Shrewsbury v MK Dons on Saturday.

Southampton At Middlesbrough The VerdictThere is absolutely no way to dress this up other than this was a game that for a long period we controlled and then we collapsed into a disorganised rabble, to throw the game away in 15 second half minutes.
Southampton At Middlesbrough The PreviewSaints have taken just 3 points from their last 5 games in the Championship, Boro themselves are struggling and are on a poor run that has seen them drop out of the automatic promotions spots. Can Tonda turn the tide for Southampton.
Southampton V Millwall The VerdictTonda Eckert rang the changes for this game, but it made little difference as the key 3 man central defence remained unchanged, in the end a draw was a fair result, but of not much help for Saints.
Southampton V Millwall In PicturesA quick pictorial view of some of the game Saints have played against Millwall in the past 20 years or so, some familiar face in there, what are your memories of the likes of Jo Tessem, Francis Benali and Graziano Pelle
Southampton V Millwall The PreviewSaints start the year with a home game against the team who inflicted the first defeat of Tonda Eckert's tenure as manager, we need to show that we have learned the lessons from that game and others.
