Safe QPR money on both teams to score - betting

Andy Hillman returns to cast his eye across the markets for QPR's home match with Ipswich, and hunt value elsewhere on the weekend sporting coupon.

Well, according to the media, the football season finally starts this weekend. Quite what I’ve been watching for the last two weekends whilst we waited for this festival of football to start is beyond me.

Last week’s bets were a mixed bag, the generous odds on Monaco won me my NAP, and message board regular Simmo a handsome sum, whilst Stead not even getting on the pitch against us was enough to void that particular market.

This Week

NAP of the week: Monaco to Beat Montpellier @ 4/7

Until they drop the odds on Monaco, I’m going to keep backing them. As a comparison, in PSG vs AJ Ajaccio, a not massively dissimilar clash, PSG are 1/6 for the win. Montpellier were also awful away from home last season — losing 13 of 19. I actually really like the look of Monaco -1 at 6/4, but it’s a bit of a stretch having a handicap as my NAP of the week...

QPR related bet: Both Teams to Score @ Evens

You can get evens on the QPR win, but Ipswich are one of those annoying teams that it’s difficult to back against. Evens on both teams to score is a much safer bet — We look like scoring every game, but we look like conceding every game as well...

Like Buying Money Double: Dortmund and Bayern to win with a -1 handicap @ 2/1

Dortmund host Braunschweig, who are formidable on the scrabble board, but useless at football. Munich travel to Eintract Frankfurt, and average eleventy goals a game in the league. Like a fat guy at a buffet, both teams should help themselves...

Longshot Sevenfold @ 13/2

Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Monaco, PSG, Bayern and Dortmund all to win is a very tempting 13/2. For the record, I removed Liverpool from my eightfold, and it’ll be Arsenal that let me down. Just so you know ahead of time...

One of Avoid: Swansea vs Man Utd

Not so much a bet as a recommendation, to leave this one well alone, despite the offer of Evens on Man Utd. Swansea have bought well in the summer, particularly Bony, but it’s tough to back them against Man Utd, who are still, despite everything, Man Utd.

Saints supporters seem to have differing opinions about where the team needs strengthening, but for me there are just the two key areas that need to be dealt with urgently.
