Dale sign Zidane
Or at least we must have done according to one FC Halifax Town player.
FC Halifax midfielder Scott McManus was singing the praises of former Dale defender Matty Pearson and former trialist Lois Maynard in the matchday programme of Tuesday's Conference Clash between the Shaymen and Grimsby Town.
He said: "Matty Pearson and Lois Maynard’s work rate is tremendous. I played with Lois when I was a kid and he is one of the best footballers I have ever played with. It was just an under 18’s team and he was a central midfielder who then converted to a central defender; but someone as good as him on the ball with all that energy is wasted at centre-half.
"I really do not know why Rochdale decided to let him go. They must have some really good central midfielders if they are letting the likes of Matty Pearson and Lois Maynard go. They have obviously got Zidane! I would take them two in my team all day.”
An experimental Dale side recently beat FC Halifax at the Shay 2-1 in a pre-season friendly.
