Crystal Palace 0 Swansea City 2 - After Match Reactions

The Swans find themselves 9th in the Premier League this evening after they won 2-0 at Crystal Palace this afternoon in the league.

Goals from Michu and Nathan Dyer gave the Swans a third successive away victory following on from wins at West Brom and Valencia and ended a great week for the club after it started with a 2-2 draw with Liverpool at the Liberty last Monday.

They now move onto their next challenge which will be the first step of their defence of the Capital One Cup on Wednesday against Birmingham.

But what was being said after the game at Selhurst Park?

Swansea manager Michael Laudrup

"It’s been a fantastic week. Before the start, I thought that this would be the most difficult game because it was on the back of Liverpool and Valencia. It was the third game in only six days — and with all of the travelling.

"I’m really pleased with what the players did today. I think it always helps when you score in the first or second minute, but even so, you have to play ninety."I think we dominated the game from the first to the last second. The only thing was that we should have done was score more goals, because we had the chances to score five or six.

"But it is difficult to not be pleased after you win 3-0 and 2-0 in three days.”

Defender Ben Davies

"It was a very professional display - it was a performance that deserved all three points,” said the Wales left-back, who returned to the starting line-up after being among the substitutes at the Mestalla.

"There were never any issues of fatigue being a problem for us.

"The manager made five changes to the starting XI, but we have a good squad of players and everything is put in place for us to recover from games like Valencia and be ready for games at the weekend. "

Nathan Dyer, who grabbed the second goal for the Swans

"We had a lot of chances, and fortunately we were able to take a couple. But we were still on a high from beating Valencia and we carried that into today’s game.

"It’s only going to get harder from here on in but we have a good squad of players and lots of strength in depth so we’re well prepared. If players can’t play then we have others that can come in and do a great job.

"We have another game on Wednesday in the Capital One Cup so we’ll go again. Every competition is high on our priority list. We want to win the game and go as far as we can.”

Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway

"I’m absolutely gutted,” said Holloway. "If you’d have seen the work we did, what we talked about, and how sharp we were yesterday; it all just faded away within about one minute and thirty seconds.

"That’s as bad as I ever want to feel sat here. I didn’t enjoy any minute of it.

"It was my fault for not being on the line with them. I felt estranged and out of it, and they have got to feel like their manager is with them. I needed to be there today, and they would have felt a little bit more confident.

"But I’m not taking anything away from them (Swansea). I thought they were embarrassingly good, to be honest. "
