Caulker In Saints Sights

Cardiff City's Steven Caulker could be about to be enticed to St Mary's as the club look to bolster their defence options.

Cardiff City may have gone down but central defender Steven Caulker was one of the highlights of their brief stay in the Premier League, Caulker who signed from Spurs last summer for a fee of around £8 million played in every game, indeed every minute of every game scoring 5 times and at 22 is seen as one of the promising youngsters in the Premier and could be looking to add to his one England cap won a couple of years ago.

Certainly one admirer is former manager at Spurs harry Redknapp who has already agreed terms with Cardiff but as of yet has not been able to get the player to put pen to paper whilst Caulker weighs up his options.

One of those options is Saints who will face opposition from Everton and ironically Liverpool, although perhaps that threat will ease if Dejan Lovren joins them.

The fee that has been agreed by QPR is unclear although it is understood to be not that much more than the £8 million laid out last year by Cardiff as the Welsh club look to trim the wage bill, this shows that Saints should not fear losing Lovren, yes we will be weakened if we do he is very much a player we would want to keep, ideally also bringing in the likes of Caulker, but it does show that quality is available at a good price and that what we Saints fans should look forward to is the players coming in, not those going out.
