Saints Get Their Mojo Working For Rojo
The media is reporting that Saints have jumped to the head of the queue to sign Sporting Lisbon and Argentinian International left back Rojo
Saints have been going about their business quietly i the transfer market this summer after losing three big name players early on, this isnt good enough for some Saints fans who would seem to prefer brash statements about who we are going to sign and how much money we are going to spend in order to show ambition !
But most prefer Ronald Koeman to go about his business quietly and methodically, a lack of fine words does not mean a lack of ambition.
Now it seems we are in the market for Sporting Lisbon's Marcos Rojo and according to media sources are jumping ahead of both Liverpool and Chelsea for the 24 year old who starred for Argentina in the World Cup.
Although primarily a left back he can also be employed as a central defender and if Saints can land him for the reported fee of around £12 million it will be a major coup.
However being linked with him and signing him are two different things, however it will bring some comfort to those Saints fans who like to see and believe the media reports about incoming transfers, but it does at least show that Saints are being proactive in the transfer market and know just what areas they need to strengthen in etc.
It seems unlikely that we would be able to muscle out both Liverpool and Chelsea but it could be that neither are truly interested in signing the player and that it is his agent trying to stir up a late bid or two, but if we did get him the sale of Luke Shaw for £30 million and signing the best left back of the World Cup if we take the all star tournament team as the yardstick for £12 million would certainly represent good business.
