Saints will be satisfied with the draw for the Capital One Cup quarter finals with an away tie at Bramall Lane against Sheffield United.
With respect to Sheffield United and with the thought in mind of how well another Yorkshire club Bradford City did a couple of years ago in the same competition, Saints will be very happy to have been paired with the Blades in the quarter finals of the capital One Cup.
In any competition the best any club can hope for is to be drawn at home to the lowest ranked club left in the hat and United at present in League One are sadly that, although the tie will not be at St Mary's it is still the best away draw we could have hoped for and better than meeting any of the other six clubs still competing for a semi final place.
This gives Saints a great chance of progressing, United will be a tough nut to crack with Nigel Clough getting them firing on all cylinders after a modest start and currently sitting in sixth place in their division.
In this competition they started with a 2-1 win over Mansfield at home followed by a difficult tie away to West Ham who they beat on penalties, before beating Orient away in the 3rd round 1-0.
Their fourth round tie at MK Dons saw them on the verge of elimination from the cup, however two goals in the final four minutes meant they won the tie 2-1 to take their place in the quarterfinals.
On paper they have not had a difficult run, at least not when compared to Saints who have had to beat Arsenal and Stoke away from home, so they should hold no fears for us in six weeks time when we travel to the cold north and hopefully return only two games away from Wembley.
No disrespect to the Blades whom I have always actually liked but the draw has opened out for Saints, it is very much in our hands now and we just need to continue on playing the way we have, if we do then we have to be favourites to go through.
