Winger stakes his Pompey first-team claim
Andy Barcham is the latest fringe player to press his claim for a first-team recall by scoring for the reserves.
The winger was on target for a strong reserves line-up as they beat Leyton Orient 4-1.
Jack Whatmough, Joe Devera and Danny East also showed they were doing well after injury while it was a decent workout for the likes of Jed Wallace and Nigel Atangana.
Atangana, East and Johnny Ertl were the other scorers.
Reserves boss Paul Hardyman told The News: ‘It was quite pleasing in lots of ways, particularly in the fact we created 30-odd goal-scoring opportunities. Playing against a younger team and with us being an experienced team you would expect that.
‘The disappointing thing was we didn’t finish those chances off. But when you are creating those chances it is good.'
Barcham may be pressing for a recall for Saturday's trip to Cheltenham, but that game probably comes too early for East.
