Saints Go Hard Astern To Porto

Saints are being linked with an audacious move for two of Portugese side Porto's players, but is there any truth in the rumour.

Over the past couple of days Saints have been linked with Porto due Bruno Martins Indi and Juan Quintero.

Martins Indi is an obvious link as the player played under Ronald Koeman at Feyenoord for three years before both left in the summer of 2014, Koeman for Saints and Martins Indi for Porto for a fee of around £5.75 million.

A left sided player who can play either left back or primarily as a central defender he has been linked with a move to Saints in the press over the past few days although some reports are saying that this is more likely to happen in the summer than now.

But today Juan Quintero has also been thrown into the picture, the player who will turn 22 in a couple of weeks time is a central midfielder who can play in either a holding role or as an attacking midfielder, he was linked with a move to Arsenal last summer for around £15 million .

The Columbian has been compared to Lionel Messi in the way he plays but this is perhaps as much for his diminutive style at 5ft 6 than anything else.

How much truth in this rumour is open to speculatio, but certainly Saints are being linked with a lot of central midfielders in this transfer window suggesting that the word on the street is that Saints are looking to have a replacement in place this season should Morgan Schneiderlin leave the club in the summer as seems highly likely.
