Wanyama On Verge Of Ban

Victor Wanyama is only one booking away from a two game ban, can he hold out on getting another long enough to get past the amnesty period.

After picking up 3 yellow cards in the last four games Victor Wanyama is on the verge of a two game ban if he picks up a yellow card in Saints next three games, Burnley at home, Everton away and then Hull at St Mary's are the matches he needs to come through without being booked if he wants to avoid that ban at what is a vital time for Saints.

Wanyama is in this position because so far he has been booked 9 times with 10 being the threshold, if he can come through unscathed then the bar raises to 15 games meaning that with only 6 games remaining he would be safe from the thread of suspension for the reaminder of the season.

Ironically Wanyama only got booked once in his first 13 games of the season, but since then he has been more consistent in picking up yellow cards, however like goals for a centre forward they seem to have come in bursts and prior to this latest trio in the last four games he had gone 5 games without picking up one and hopefully the next three games will be a lot less competitive in the centre of the park than Chelsea was on Sunday.

Ronald Koeman probably needs to manage Wanyama through the next three matches to ensure that he doesnt pick up unnecessary bookings when the result of a game is settled.
