Matt Targett Gets First England U21 Call Up
Matt Targett has not quite managed to break through to the Saints first team on a regular basis but he has been promoted to the Under 21 squad for England.
Matt Targett joins James Ward Prowse and ex Saint Calum Chambers in the England Under 21 squad for the games against the Czech Republic in Prague or against Germany in Middlesbrough.
It is a first call up for the 19 year old who will hope to emulate several of his team mates in Gareth Southgate's squad who have also featured in the full International set up for England.
It is another step forward for Targett who has made 3 starts plus 3 as sub in the Premier league team this season although in the League cup he has appeared 4 times and 1 and 1 as sub in the FA Cup although in fairness his opportunities have been limited due to Ryan Bertrand's excellent form this season.
