Saints Considering A Move For PSG Full Back

One of the fun parts about the potential departure of Nathaniel Clyne is the plethora of right backs we are linked with across Europe, here is the latest rumour.

According to the rumour mill Saints are looking at Paris St Germain's Gregory Van Der Wiel and yes you have guessed it he is Dutch.

This means that now there are possibly only 4 right backs of Dutch origin or eligible to play for Holland through their grandparents who some lazy hack hasn't put two and two together and claimed that Saints are watching.

Given the number of scouts we are allegedly sending out to watch players, even Lord Baden Powell couldn't raise a scout troop of this magnitude.

The latest target is Gregory Van Der Wiel and our scouts apparently watched him score as PSG beat metz to close in on the French title.

Van Der Viel is 27 and has been at PSG since 2012 after joining them from Ajax where he made 130 league appearances in 5 seasons after breaking through as a 19 year old.

He has also made 41 appearances for the full Dutch international side including the 2010 World Cup Final.

He moved to PSG in September 2012 for around 6 million euros although in his early days there he was not first choice as right back.

I have no problem with Saits being linked with Dutch players, however it just seems that due to Ronald Koeman out of neccessity last summer signing players like Pelle whom he had managed or Tadic of whom he was well aware that the media seem to take the easy option and link Saints with any player with a Dutch connection.
