Swans, Newcastle And West Ham Chase Striker?
Swansea City are being linked with another striker - this time it is Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani who is said to be available for a fee in excess of £7m.
And it is that figure for me that I think kills this rumour almost as soon as it starts as I just cannot see us spending that kind of money on a striker not when we already have two on our books.
I would certainly say that it would do us no harm to have another striker in the senior squad in case of an injury to either Bafe or to Eder but it doesn't seem to fit in the way that we do things to suggest that we could pay in excess of £7m for that player.
We are not alone in being linked with West Ham, Newcastle, Leicester and West Brom are all linked in the player who played in the Champions League last season for Sporting.
His club are reported as being reluctant to let the Algerian go but I suspect that they are not overly concerned that there are plenty of clubs being linked given that is likely to drive his price up if any of those links materialise into something a little more concrete.
But while I am happy to be proved wrong on occasions like this I just cannot see that we would be in for the player at the prices being quoted.
A non-starter for me.
